FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

  • Your final gallery will be available 2-4 weeks after your shoot. Oh, and I love to send sneak peeks of the family photoshoot gallery directly and on social media, so be sure to check out my Instagram!

  • As a dog owner, I completely understand how important it can be to capture all members of the family, even the four-legged ones! Dogs are 100% welcome to your session; just give me a heads-up so I can make sure we choose a dog-friendly location. For a complete guide, I highly recommend checking out my blog post on bringing your dog to a session here!

  • Most of the time, our preference is to do your family photoshoot without any weather disturbances — but of course, you can't control rain, and photoshoots don't happen every day. Here’s the good news: rain doesn’t necessarily ruin your photoshoot. If it does happen to rain, we can reschedule or just roll with it; completely your call. If the weather poses a safety concern for you, I will suggest we reschedule the photoshoot.

  • It depends on the season, but typically, it’s best to schedule your family portrait session 2-8 weeks in advance of your ideal session date.

  • What you wear to your session is, ultimately, completely up to you. Wear what makes you feel good, confident, and comfortable. With that being said, as a Dallas family photographer, I recommend you decide on a simple color palette. Whites, neutrals, and soft, solid colors will look elegant in any location.

I offer personalized styling support from the time you book until the date of your session.

For more styling ideas, here are my top tips for WHAT TO WEAR FOR FAMILY PICTURES.

  • Absolutely! Including your loved ones in your maternity session adds so much to your final images. It’s my hope that, years down the road, you will be able to look at your maternity photos and see the connection between yourself, your baby, your partner, and/or any siblings-to-be.

  • Generally, anytime between 28 and 36 weeks is a good time. But, as we all know, we can’t control when the little one will arrive. If you are expecting an early entrance or are having twins, it’s best to book on the sooner side. If this isn’t your first pregnancy, your more likely to show earlier, and can also book earlier.

  • Once your session is booked, I’ll mark your estimated due date on my calendar. I keep my weekdays open for newborn sessions (although weekends are also doable!) so we shouldn't have any trouble finding a time to schedule your newborn session. When your baby arrives, just give me a call as soon as you can and we can lock in a time and date within the next week or two!

  • There are a few tips I’ll communicate to you in the lead-up to your newborn session, but essentially, your job is to simply show up as you are. Be ready to snuggle your new family member, and to be in some of the shots, too. If there are siblings involved, prepare them by letting them know that this photoshoot is about the new baby.

  • As a newborn photographer, my main goal is to capture your family during this special time in a natural, comfortable setting - your home.

During the session, we’ll spend time focusing on the new addition to your family and capturing those tiny details that change so quickly. We’ll also include siblings, parents, and even pets if you’d like!

In between the more intentional photos, I'll be snapping candids as you move through the normal moments of life with a newborn.

Whether it's mom changing the baby's diaper, dad rocking the baby when she begins crying, or the siblings coming in to see the baby again, I am always ready with my camera to capture those special moments. These in-between moments often hold the most emotion and meaning, and I am there to document them for you to cherish forever.

I understand that having a new baby can be chaotic and unpredictable, but I promise to ensure your session is calm and relaxed. During your at-home newborn session, I encourage you to relax, be yourself, and let me capture those beautiful, candid moments that you'll cherish for a lifetime.

  • No need to worry if outfit shopping for your newborn session just hasn’t been top of your priority list lately - honestly, how could it be?! Just in case you don’t have outfits ready, I’ll bring with me a selection of swaddles, button-up onesies, and diaper covers that you can choose from.

Before I arrive, I recommend dressing your baby in a front-facing, button-up, cozy sleep suit so that when we’re ready to start, it’ll be easy to get them out of it without waking them up. It’s also handy to have an assortment of neutral, textured swaddles and wraps so that we can chop and change throughout the session - but like I said, I have plenty to choose from if you don’t have a bunch ready to go at home.
